Next phase of the revitalization of business park Twentekanaal

Bouwbord HTSP 2 (2)

On Monday 19 March, the municipality of Hengelo will start the second phase of the work on the business park Twentekanaal: the revitalization of the area located between the Diamantstraat and the High Tech Systems Park Twente. Due to this revitalization, there will be traffic disruption untill July/August on the Opaalstraat, Robijnstraat, Saffierstraat, Smaragdstraat and Barnsteenstraat.

High Tech Systems Park Twente (HTSP), the business park on the territory of Thales, is in full development. High Tech companies can establish themselves here in the upcoming years. The municipality of Hengelo has worked on the redesign of the Haaksbergerstraat, between the Oeler bridge and the newly constructed exit on the west side of HTSP. Now the next phase has started. The revitalization includes: improving the access, appearance and green structure, a new asphalt top layer with concrete gutter and the entrances and parking spaces will be redecorated.

Work will start on Monday, March 19 and last for about 16 weeks. The work has been completed for the construction industry holiday. During the revitalization from 19 March to 30 April 2018, the Saffierstraat and Smaragdstraat are temporarily set up as a one-way street. Subsequent work next to the road will last until mid-May 2018. The driving direction is from the Diamantstraat to the Robijnstraat. So, the road is not closed, but there will be traffic disruption.

From 30 April to 2 July 2018, the Robijnstraat and Barnsteenstraat will be revitalized. At the end of this period, all the streets will get a new asphalt layer in the weekends and the Opaalstraat wil get a speed bump.

This project is a part of the Development Agenda Netwerkstad Twente which is partly financed by the province of Overijssel. The five municipalities in Twente have drawn up a work program in which specific projects and investments are mentioned. One of the projects is the development of the High Tech Systems Park Twente.
